My Weight Loss Progress

The good and the bad

The good:

  • I am writing down everything I eat. I may not be doing it at the time I do it but I'm writing it down. For me, that is progress right now.

  • I've been wearing my new tennis shoes and workout clothes and that is giving me some inspiration. I haven't gotten to working out yet but the extra walking and just wearing this is helping me frame my thoughts.
The bad:

  • Work has been very busy so having well-balanced, thoughtful meals has been a challenge.

  • Tonight I picked up fried chicken because I didn't have time to make dinner. I really didn't want it but it was the easiest and cheapest thing to buy without having to think too much.

  • Drinking all my water on days when I am in back to back meetings is a challenge.

Today I realize that I have to probably cook a couple of meals on the weekend to get me through the week and freeze more leftovers.

I read a blog today that reminded me that it is a slow process and eating better, exercising, and being true with yourself are the key to success.

Focused Monday

So I have been working on getting inspired. Today I finally picked up the pen and planner and started tracking points. Overall, I did good. I did give in to a donut on my way out of the house because I was hungry and didn't have fruit and it was easy. That cost me the exact 6 points I went over today. But, as Roni said in this post, So What! The good thing I did was that I went for a walk to the bus further from my house to go to Aldi to buy fruits and vegetables. When I got to the bus stop I couldn't see the bus coming so I kept walking to the stop and then the next one. I probably could have gone one more block but I was afraid of the bus passing me up. I joined Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper's Facebook pages. Today Bob had a picture of this guy for inspiration -- Dion Makes a Change. He has lost 80 pounds! I hope to keep following his page to stay inspired. A few things to work on this week:

  • keep tracking points

  • balance my meals

  • drink at least 8 cups of water.

Quick check-in

Just wanted to say that I'm still here and haven't forgotten about my commitment to be good. I have lost the weight that I had gained in the last month so that makes me happy. I still haven't religously tracked everything I eat but I am reading blog postings, watching and measuring what I'm eating, and building up my focus.

So, in my book, this is better than where I was when I fell off the wagon last month!

The Power of Regret

My motivation for today...

"We can't afford to waste tears on might-have-beens. We need to turn the tears into sweat that can take us to what can be."
- Denis Waitley (1933 - , Author, Speaker, Trainer, Peak Performance Expert)

It's been over a month...

...and I've been struggling to get on the bandwagon. The last I posted I said was back to tracking and that same day something went wrong and I just quit again. I have many excuses but I won't bore you...

So what am I saying? Well, that I know I have to get back on the bandwagon and I need to just do it. Those excuses will always be there but the opportunity to better my health before it gets the best of me won't. I turn 37 next Friday and I need to get my act together before them.

Thanks, Wilson, for checking up on me. Don't give up on me yet!
